Mad Scientist Pony is an Earth Pony stallion who lives in Ponyville. Initially, he took on the appearance of a background character from S08E05 "Grannies Gone Wild", however his design was later changed, presumably so that he no longer bore resemblance to Rick Sanchez from the TV-14/TV-MA animated sitcom Rick and Morty. His description alludes to one of the episodes in its third season, in which Sanchez turns himself into a pickle.
