Special Encounters

Special encounters are characters or items that spawn in the game, some every day like Pony in a Box, some after an update like Spike in a trenchcoat or the mystery pony, some with a questline like the Plant Creature Pony invasion, some during a Blitz event like the piles of gold or the apple and pear tree, some during a seasonal store event like the anniversary cakes or the snowdragons.

All-time encounters

Pony in a box

Since the game's early days, Pony in a box has been appearing in Ponyville, Canterlot, Sweet Apple Acres, Crystal Empire and Klugetown. If tapped, she will be uncovered and drop 20 , and has about a one-in-three chance of also dropping 1  or 1 wheel if you have less than 3 wheel tokens (that information was from a much earlier version of the game, we still have to confirm it). She will then disappear to hide again, reappearing not long after again.

Update encounters

Spike in a trenchcoat

At each major update, Spike in a trenchcoat appears a total of 5 times (it used to be 10) to offer 3 each time; he appears in Ponyville, Sweet Apple Acres, Canterlot, Crystal Empire, Klugetown and Everfree Forest.

• If you remain on the same map, Spike will keep showing up (you don't need to search all maps for him).
• He has a 5 minute (or less) cooldown.
• If he doesn't appear, reloading the map seems to help. Enter/exit group quests or balloon pop to reload the map with changing maps.

Story event encounters

Mystery Pony

During the Story of a Storm event, Fizzlepop Berrytwist would spawn in Ponyville, covered in a black cloak. Tapping her would make her disappear and drop some , 1 (not guaranteed) and a Token. Depending on which community event was in progress, she would drop either an Airship Part (first event) or a Star Map (second event).

Seasonal Stores

Special encounters for seasonal stores are mostly there to help the player obtain bonus tokens for the seasonal store. They also give bits and sometimes gems.

Ponnyversary Cake

At the game's anniversary, these cakes spawn in Ponyville and have a decoration that looks just the same in the seasonal store, except for the fact they shine.

Snow Spike

Identical to the decoration of the same name except for the fact they shine, they appear for the Hearths Warming seasonal store in Ponyville.

Heart Balloons

Identical to the decoration of the same name except for the fact they shine, they appear for the Hearts and Hooves seasonal store in Ponyville

Quest line encounters

Plant Creature Pony

Plant Creature Pony appears with the quest line The Plant Pony Invasion, requiring to tap 100 of them. They are different from the playable one because they constantly dance, they shine, and they appear in Ponyville, Sweet Apple Acres, Canterlot and Crystal Empire. More than 100 can spawn during that quest line. They drop , and sometimes 1 or File:Crystal Coin.png.
