Chrysalis

Queen Chrysalis is a non-playable character and is the primary villainess in Canterlot during the Royal Wedding quest progression, mirroring the events of ""A Canterlot Wedding - Part 1"" and ""A Canterlot Wedding - Part 2""; and later in the Changeling Kingdom quests. She is the changeling queen, and like all changelings, has the ability to shapeshift, which she uses to disguise herself as Princess Cadance during the lead-up to the Royal Wedding.

However, as of the Siege of the Crystal Empire event, she can be purchased for 1,500 Gemsor on real money bundles.

Quests

Disguised as Princess Cadance, Queen Chrysalis issues the quests "Cleaning Up Canterlot" ^Canterlot and "Galloping Maiden" ^Canterlot, and many of the other quests leading up to the Royal Wedding revolve around her. After she is revealed to be an impostor, the quests "Changing the Queen" ^Canterlot and "Bride and Groom" ^Canterlot mention her, and the task of "Bride and Groom" requires her to be defeated.

She later appears as the primary villainess of the Changeling Kingdom quests.

Defeating Queen Chrysalis

Canterlot

After being revealed and a short cutscene, Chrysalis will be standing on a podium near the Canterlot Castle and summon four changelings to shield her. The player must first defeat four changelings, each requiring 5 Laughter Shards. Then the Queen may be tapped to initiate the next phase; four new changelings guards will be summoned, this time requiring Generosity Shards to defeat. Once Generosity changelings are defeated, they are then replaced by Honesty changelings, then Kindness Changelings, then Loyalty changelings, and then finally Magic changelings. After tapping the Queen for the last time, another cutscene will play, and the Queen will be banished.

At the beginning of each phase, in addition to four guard changelings, Chrysalis may summon a few additional changelings in the city of the same color as her new guards. They are optional, but it's advised to clear them eventually or they will block building space.

Unlike normal changelings, those summoned by Chrysalis do not wear disguise, which makes them easier to spot, but harder to ignore (changelings in disguise are harmless until revealed). They do, however, award bits and gems like normal ones and count toward "Changing the Queen" ^Canterlot quest. This applies both to guard changelings and optional changelings.

Even after defeating the Queen, changelings in disguise will continue to spawn in Canterlot as normal.

Changeling Kingdom

At the final quests of the Changeling Kingdom series, the player has Thorax battle Queen Chrysalis using Friendship Gems generated by good changelings and his friends. Several characters (Double Diamond, Party Favor, and Night Glider) boost the amount of Friendship Gems needed to defeat Queen Chrysalis in four stages.
