The Critter Ranch is a feature added in Update 7.7 in Sweet Apple Acres.
Gameplay
Obtaining Animals
The feature begins with a set of 17 quests which gives the player a Rabbit Hutch to begin, available for 10 
.
Upon the completion of a Rabbit Hutch, Sheep Barn, Pigpen, Cattle Ranch, or Henhouse, one of the corresponding critter (rabbit, sheep, pig, cow, or chicken) will spawn and walk around Sweet Apple Acres.
In order to spawn more of a animals, food needs to be given. Animals have a cooldown for eating which can be skipped with gems or by watching ads.

Obtaining Food
Food can be obtained through the Carrot Patch, Cornfield, Cabbage Patch, Grain Farm or Sunflower Farm, which need to be constructed first.
Food operates on a cooldown (3h for carrots and corn, 4 hours for cabbage and wheat) which can be skipped by watching ads.
Once food is ready to be collected, the user can pay either shards and bits or gems and shards in order to collect it.

Completion
Fully upgraded critter ranches will produce gems and XP the first time, but to get more you have to feed them again.

Collections
When the feature launched, there were 3 collections available from August 1st, 2022 through October 31, 2022 until server refresh. The cow collection came with Update 8.5 and the chickens followed up with Update 9.6.
- Colony of Bunnies: six Sweet Apple Bunny, unlocks Sheep Barn
- Herd of Sheep: six Sweet Apple Sheep, unlocks Smiley Sheep
- Passel of Pigs: six Sweet Apple Pigs, unlocks Peppy Pig
- The Whole Herd: six Sweet Apple Cows, unlocks DaisyJo
- Cheerful Chickens: six Sweet Apple Chickens, unlocks Cockatrice
